Editorial policy

LifQ publishes guides and a glossary about insurance, benefits, and warranties. This page says how they are written, what is checked, and what we do when something turns out to be wrong.

Where the facts come from

Primary sources first: the FTC, the CFPB, the NAIC, the IRS, the Department of Labor, and CMS. Where a figure changes annually, such as a contribution limit, the year is stated inline and the source is linked so you can check it yourself. Trade press and comparison sites are not used as authorities. The list of sources we rely on is at Why we say this.

How claims are checked

Every claim drawn from an outside source is recorded against the sentence of the source that supports it, before it is published. If the source turns out to say something narrower than the draft, the draft changes. If a source cannot be reached or no longer says what it was cited for, the claim comes down rather than staying up with a broken citation.

What we will not write

LifQ is an information tool, not an advice service. We do not tell you what to buy, what to keep, what to cancel, or whether your coverage is enough. We do not rank carriers or policies against each other. We do not publish figures about what a typical household saves, because that would need outcome data we do not have. Where a decision belongs to you, we say so and point you at your carrier, your benefits team, or a licensed agent. This is set out in full in our disclaimer.

Who writes it, and where AI fits

Content is written by the LifQ editorial team. We use AI tools to assist with research, drafting, structuring, and editing. Educational content is checked against primary sources before publication, regardless of how the first draft was produced. What we do not do is publish generated text unread, or generate pages in bulk to cover keyword variations.

We do not have a licensed insurance professional on staff reviewing drafts, and no article carries a “reviewed by” line, because inventing a reviewer would be worse than not having one.

Updates and corrections

Guides carry a publication date, and pages that depend on figures which change annually are reviewed when those figures change. Dates on this site reflect real revisions. We do not restamp a page to make it look fresh. The glossary and solution pages were last revised August 23, 2026.

If something here is wrong, tell us at hello@lifq.ai and we will correct it and say what changed.

No endorsement

We cite government agencies and regulators because their guidance is public and authoritative. References to them do not imply endorsement of or affiliation with LifQ. LifQ takes no commission or referral fee from any insurer, agent, or comparison service, and has no business relationship with any carrier.
