Frequently asked questions
Everything you want to know about LifQ: how it works, what it costs, and how we protect your information.
About LifQ
What is LifQ?
LifQ is an AI-powered platform that helps families organize, understand, and manage all their financial protections in one place, including credit card benefits, warranties, memberships, employer benefits, and insurance policies. It shows households everything they're entitled to, and makes it usable.
How is LifQ different from a digital vault or document storage app?
Digital vaults store documents. LifQ reads them. After you upload a document, LifQ restates it in plain language and lines it up against everything else you have, so you can see what's doubled up, what nothing covers, and what each one costs you. Reading them, not just holding them, is the point.
Why not just ask an AI assistant about my policy?
You can, and for reading one document it works well. LifQ's own Assistant is built on the same kind of model. The difference is not how well the reading goes, it is what happens after. A chat ends and nothing is kept, so next time you upload everything again and hope you remember what everything is. LifQ keeps what it read as records, lines each new document up against the ones already there, takes the renewal date out of the document and puts it on a schedule without being asked, and shows the household rather than one person. An assistant answers the question you are holding. LifQ holds the answers, watches the dates, and tells the people who share the coverage.
Is pasting my policy into a chat assistant a privacy decision?
It is one, yes. The whole document goes across, including your name, your address, and any policy, group, or member numbers printed on it, and what happens to it afterwards is governed by that product's retention and training settings, which differ between products and change over time. Being clear about our side: LifQ reads documents with AI as well, so the difference is not whether a model ever sees the text. It is that your document stays in your vault, encrypted in transit and at rest with row-level security, instead of living in a chat history you have to remember to clear, and that we do not use your documents to train AI models without your explicit consent.
How current is the information LifQ uses about my credit card benefits?
LifQ reads what the card issuer publishes, at the time you ask, and shows you what it found so you can confirm it before it is saved. That matters because a general AI assistant answers from what it was trained on, which may be a year old or more, and the answer looks the same either way. Card benefits change, and the difference between a benefit you have and one you used to have only shows up when you try to claim it.
Who is LifQ built for?
LifQ is built for households juggling a lot at once: employer benefits, credit card perks, warranties, and a couple of insurance lines that nobody has ever looked at together.
Will LifQ tell me to cancel a policy?
No. LifQ shows you where coverage overlaps, what each policy says, and what each one costs, and it never cancels anything. Two policies covering the same event can still differ on limits, deductibles, exclusions, and which one pays first, so overlap is not the same thing as waste. What to keep and what to drop is your call, and your carrier or a licensed agent is who to take it to.
Can LifQ help me shop for better rates?
No. LifQ is not a broker. It does not quote, compare policies for purchase, sell insurance, or point you at a carrier, and it takes no commission from anyone. It works on the policies you already have. When you do shop, the coverage summary LifQ gives you is the reference sheet to bring to a licensed agent.
Is LifQ an insurance company, broker, or advisor?
No to all three. LifQ doesn't sell or broker insurance and takes no commission from carriers. LifQ is an information tool. It organizes and explains what you already have; it doesn't advise you on what to buy, and it doesn't provide insurance, legal, or financial advice. For advice about your own coverage, talk to a licensed agent.
How it works
How do I add my documents to LifQ?
For documents, snap a photo with your phone camera or upload a PDF: scanned PDFs, documents saved from email, benefit guides from HR, warranty cards. For a credit card, a membership, or a rewards program, there is nothing to upload. You search for it by name and LifQ reads what the provider publishes.
What types of documents does LifQ support?
There are two ways in, because the documents work differently. You upload insurance policies (auto, home, health, dental, vision, life, short and long term disability, travel, pet, umbrella), product warranties and service contracts, employer benefits guides, HSA and FSA statements, and wellness plans. For credit cards, memberships, and rewards programs, you name the provider instead and LifQ reads what it publishes about the benefits, then you confirm what applies to you.
How does the AI actually work?
LifQ uses AI to read your documents, pulling out coverage details, deductibles, benefit limits, expiration dates, and exclusions. It then lines your whole portfolio up together, surfacing overlaps, coverage areas none of your documents mention, and renewal dates that no single document can reveal.
Do I need to type in the details myself?
No. LifQ's AI extracts the key data from your documents automatically. You upload the document and LifQ handles the interpretation.
Privacy & security
Is my data safe with LifQ?
Yes. Your documents are encrypted in transit and at rest, stored with row-level security so every record is scoped to your household, and visible only to you and the people you invite.
Does LifQ sell my data?
Never. Your documents and financial information remain private. We do not sell, share, or monetize your data with insurers, advertisers, or third parties.
Who can see my LifQ account?
Only you, and family members you explicitly invite. You control access entirely. You can grant and revoke access to specific family members at any time.
Can my insurance company access my LifQ account?
No. LifQ has no relationship with insurance carriers and does not share data with them. Your account is completely private.
Beta program & pricing
What is the beta program?
LifQ is currently in private beta with limited capacity. Beta applicants fill out a short form and are reviewed by our team. Acceptance is not guaranteed, because we're selecting families who can best help shape the product.
Is the beta free?
Yes. Beta access is free for accepted applicants during the beta period.
What happens after the beta?
LifQ is free during the beta. We have not set prices for after it, and we will publish them before anyone is charged. When paid plans open they will renew automatically until you cancel, beta users will get advance notice, and they will lock in launch pricing for their first year.
What exactly is a Run?
A Run is one document fully read and added to your household picture. Asking LifQ Assistant questions never consumes a Run. How many Runs an account includes is part of the plan details we have not published yet.
Is there a free trial?
The beta is free for accepted applicants, so nothing is charged and there is nothing to cancel. We have not set prices yet, and the plan details will be published on the pricing page before anyone is charged.
How do I apply for the beta?
Click the 'Join the beta' button on any page and fill out the short application form. It takes about 2 minutes. We review applications to ensure quality and will contact you when a spot is available.
